Keeping You Abreast Of The Situation

So, the show started promptly at 1:30 on Channel 19. Thirty-Five minutes later, the show froze up. It stayed that way for the next 20 minutes and then they started it up again. It played until three o'clock and then went off the air for something else. So, people got to see the first part of The Gorilla.
I sent off an email to PMN but no response yet.
Sheesh!
I will be so glad when Vimeo becomes the way I do this thing.

We're Back!

We took a little hiatus here at The BAsement and now we have done three shows back to back.
First up is The Gorilla with Bela Lugosi and The Ritz Brothers.

Then we originally were going to do The Woman Eater, but technical difficulties made that unworkable. We decided to do The Devil's Hand, but not change the bumpers. We did a little crude dubbing and it made for a funny experience.

Finally we have the monster in a suit flick ZAAT. A truly bizarre little flick.

Look for bumpers soon on the site and it won't be long before we go to Vimeo to bring you entire episodes online!

Public Media Network continues to be the bane of the show's existence. I will be so happy when we go online for the show. They couldn't get episodes 21 & 22 to play on their antiquated equipment even though it plays on every DVD player here at Baron Morbid central. It even plays in the XBOX 360! We will continue to carry on, but I see us hitting the internet for a huge Halloween episode. It should be a hoot.

It refuses to burn. I have tried many things with Convert X To DVD and nothing. It stops after Chapter 6 and refuses to go nay farther. I have one last thing I'm going to try and then I play it for laughs by dubbing over the name of the movie in a horrible dub with whatever else we can think of.

So, apparently I sent Public Media Network a bad disc. Episode 20 freezes up during the cartoon in the beginning and they do nothing about it. If they emailed me I'm sure I could replace it. It kills me that for every episode that I have to give them my name, my email address and my phone number. Hell, I give them three phone numbers! And they still do not contact me even though there is a problem. My file plays fine and I burnt a disc that plays in my DVD player so it's an easy fix. Oh well, maybe I'll send them a new disc this week and have them try again with the same thing. I have the episode almost done for Episode 21 with The Unknown Terror so I really don't want to do that. We'll see.

Just dropped off Episodes 16 and 17. They will run on the schedule posted earlier. I'm pretty sure these will be permanent times for the near future. For all of you that have used the schedule I posted earlier and discovered the same thing that I have;
PUBLIC MEDIA NETWORK HASN'T BEEN SHOWING THE EPISODES!!!!

First it was Curse OF The Swamp Creature that ran almost a half hour late on Saturday. I assume that they fixed it for the rest of the week, but I never checked. Then Terror In The Crypt where they run the first half hour and then KAPUT! Nothing. I checked it on Monday and today and that happened so I assume that it also happened on Saturday. So, if you have been trying to watch it, I apologize again.
Who knows what will happen next week with Bela Lugosi Meets Brooklyn Gorilla? Will they even bother to show it? Who knows? I do know that I wrote an upset email to the Operation Director and I left a voice mail today when it happened again. Will anything come from this? Who knows!

First, our apologies as Baron Morbid made a triumphant return on Saturday when PMN showed three episodes of the show including the newest one!
You still have three chances to catch it at

My Battle With Bela

Not a real battle, but I must say that Episode 15 of The Basement Of Baron Morbid almost didn't happen. We were showing Bela Lugosi Meets A Brooklyn Gorilla. I had done this process a million times. Shoot our bumpers, convert the film into something compatible with Windows Movie Maker. After 14 shows under my belt I was getting pretty good with this.
Until this one.
First it would not save before burning. It hung up on 99% forever. Then I got it to work and lost about fifteen minutes of the movie. I realized this after I burnt it, but I caught it before making copies for the permanent file and the cable access station.
I thought my copy of the flick might be bad so I went to Archive.org. Yeah, Windows Movie Maker hated that file! Finally, I scrapped everything, restarted the computer and started over.
After wasting seven blank DVD and hours of time Episode 15 is finished. Man, was that a pain!

Okay fans, here's the deal. I put three episodes on schedule to air and they kept screwing them up. I think part of the problem is that most of my episodes aren't the same length and they don't feel like programming them. To rectify this we will be expanding our time to a two hour format and requesting a permannent time slot. We will be shooting all this week and hopefully have them doner and in the can very soojn. I will keep the faithful posted.

It seems that there was some sort of miscommunication at the cable access station and they didn't broadcast the show on Saturday. I called and they said it was playing on channel 95, but it was the wrong episode!! I'll be checking today at four to see what is going on. Wish me luck. Jacque and myself have been spending extra time down in the basement with a plan to do a bunch of shows all at once to better serve our fans and fiends. There will be a new episode this Saturday at 1:30 in the afternoon. We are also looking at adding a late night time slot for the show and already in preproduction for an all night marathon come Halloween.

Did this one last night. It went really well and we had a lot of fun with this one. The movie is Bowery At Midnight with Bela Lugosi. I'm dropping this one off at the station this afternoon. As always it will be showing at 1:30 on Saturdays, but I'll post the other times when I get them. I think I may post a segment from each show on here as well from now one. Also, Baroness Morbid suggested I start logging in the episodes and what we did on each one. I think I'll do that after each episode airs so as not to ruin any surprises.

...are almost getting on the air. What that means is that I went down with episodes 4 (I Eat Your Skin) and 5 (The Vampire Bat) and the new reservation book wasn't out yet? It's the fourth already and no book. I try again later in the week and post the times accordingly. Also, we are having a new segment where people send in their short films. That should be a lot of fun. More about that in the weeks to come. I think I might start posting clips from the show here. More on that later as well.

So, since we are producing a horror host type show for our local cable access, I thought it might be a good idea to have a place where people can comment on each show as they are shown on the air. The first one, featuring the late, great Paul Naschy in Vengeance Of The Zombies is showing on 12/2 at 3:30, 12/4 at 1:30, 12/9 at 2:00 and 12/11 at 1:30. Its on Charter Cable Access Channel 19. Unfortunately, if you don't live in Kalamazoo, you'll probably miss it.
